My Story
I'm from Argentina, and ever since I was a little boy, I've been into languages. Before learning any language other than Spanish, I was fascinated by accents. Being surrounded by the different accents of from the provinces of Argentina, and by the accents of foreigners, I started paying attention to the sounds of Spanish. Little did I know that this would become a journey that would take me deep into phonetics, and learning new cultures! The first language I started learning was English. I've always been attracted to it, because of the sounds of this beautiful language. The sound of words with R, were especially my favorites. I started learning British English at school, so I was developing that accent. Later on, music and TV would make me go for the American English accent, more prevalent in South America. I'm self taught. I learn English through, music, books, tv, and conversations with natives.
I know how it feels to want to interact with someone and not being able to do so, because of the language barrier. I don't like that feeling. I need to be able to say a greeting at least. That feeling has taken me into learning different languages. As I was learning English, I was exposed to the Brazilian culture, will attracted me as well. I began learning Brazilian Portuguese too.
Some years latter, when I was already fluent in English and Portuguese, I started learning Sign Language. I must admit that due to lack of practice, I've lost most of it.
Then I became interested in French. When I became fluent in French, fluent enough to maintain a conversation, I came into contact with Haitians. That was completely new to me. The fact that most of them did not have French as a mother tongue, and many not being able to speak English either, made me want to learn this beautiful language. I became absorbed into learning Haitian Creole. My friends were a HUGE help for me, because back then, there was almost no information about Creole Grammar, much less a site! When I was fluent, some friends asked me to start teaching them what I knew about Creole. That's why I started developing a method for fast learning. Since I already had experience teaching English as a second language, I applied that into teaching Creole.
The result was this beautiful site, full of interactive exercises, videos, and Grammar, that I am very proud to share with you all!
